About Stripes
What is Stripes?
Stripes is a free app for cabin crew and pilots, on iPhone and Android. It keeps your whole flying life in one place.
Each flight gets a page with its route, its times, the aircraft and the crew you flew with. Each layover keeps its hotel, your notes and your To-do. Your documents and passport stamps are there too. What you fly and what you write down earns stripes. A full line of stripes is a level. Level 10 is the last, and stripes keep coming after it.
Copy linkWho makes Stripes?
Stripes is made by crew, for crew.
Copy linkIs it free?
Yes. Nothing is locked and there are no ads. Everything in Stripes today stays free.
How can it be free?
Stripes has no server to pay for, because your logbook stays on your phone. That keeps it cheap to run.
There are no ads, and nothing about you is collected, so there is nothing to sell.
Everything in Stripes today stays free. One day there may be a Pro version with extras.
Copy linkDo I need an account?
No. Stripes has no accounts. You open it and start.
The only sign-in is to your own Google account, and only if you choose Google Drive for your backup.
Does it need my airline login?
No. Stripes never asks for your crew portal login and never connects to your airline. You give it a screenshot or a PDF of your roster.
Can my airline see my logbook?
No. Your logbook stays on your phone, and in your own iCloud or Google Drive if you turn on backup. Stripes has no server and no link to any airline.
Which phones does it work on?
iPhone and iPad, and Android phones, tablets and foldables.
On a tablet held sideways or a wide foldable, the screen shows two pages side by side.
Copy linkWhat happens if Stripes shuts down?
Your logbook stays. It is on your phone and the app does not need a Stripes server to open it. You can export it as a file at any time.
Weather and currency rates come from other services and stop if those stop.

How do my flights get in?
Open the menu and tap From photos or From PDF, then pick your roster, or a screenshot of one flight. Stripes reads the flights, and you check them before they are logged.
To add one flight yourself, tap Log a flight.
Copy linkWhich airlines does it read?
Stripes is not tied to an airline. It reads the roster and looks for the flights, dates and times.
If it cannot read a new layout, it asks you to show it one flight and reads the rest the same way.
Copy linkWhat if it cannot read my roster?
Stripes asks you to tap one of your flights, then reads the rest the same way.
If it finds no flights at all, tap Write to us and attach the roster.
Copy linkWhat about the years my roster does not cover?
Stripes shows the date your logbook starts and counts from there.
On Me, open Career and set when your first rank began. Add the cities from your earlier years in Stations: they stamp your passport. Hours and sectors count logged flights only, and a city added this way earns no stripe.
Copy linkCabin crew or pilot: what changes?
The fields on a flight change. Pilots get rank, pilot flying or monitoring, runway and night landing. Cabin crew get class and position.
To change it, open Settings and tap Role. Flights you already logged stay as they are.
Copy linkWhich clock are the times in?
You choose in Settings, under Times: each airport’s own clock, your base’s clock, or UTC. If you have not chosen, the first roster you import that says which clock it uses sets it.

Where is my logbook kept?
On your phone. Turn on cloud backup in Settings, under Data, and a copy goes to your own iCloud or Google Drive, in a private folder only Stripes can open. Your photos and document scans go with it.
What if I lose my phone?
If cloud backup was on, turn it on with the same account on the new phone and your logbook comes back.
With no backup and no exported file it is gone. Stripes keeps no copy and cannot give it back.
Copy linkHow do I move to a new phone?
On the old phone, check that cloud backup is on and has finished. On the new one, turn on cloud backup in Settings, under Data, with the same account, and your logbook comes back.
Your photos and document scans come back after it. On mobile data, if there are more than a few they wait for Wi-Fi.
Copy linkCan I use it on two phones?
Yes. Turn on cloud backup on both with the same account. Each one picks up the other’s changes when you open it. If one is an iPhone and the other is not, choose Google Drive on both.
Copy linkCan I get my data out?
Yes. In Settings, under Data, Export data saves your logbook and documents as one file you can keep. It has your document numbers but not your photos.
Other programs can open and read the file. It is not a PDF or a spreadsheet.
Copy linkHow do I delete everything?
In Settings, under Data, Delete all data clears your logbook, photos, documents, profile and reminders from the phone.
A cloud backup stays until you delete it: Delete the backup, in the same place, deletes it from iCloud or Google Drive, and the phone keeps everything.

What does Stripes collect about me?
Nothing. Stripes has no accounts of its own, does not track how you use it and shows no ads. There is no Stripes server for anything to be sent to.
What does the app send over the internet?
The app goes online for four things, and none of them sends your name.
MET Norway gets the coordinates of an airport on your flights and returns a forecast, and keeps them with your internet address in its logs. The Currency API, a free public list of exchange rates, gets a currency code. OurAirports is checked about once a month for new airport codes and runways. A short map link you share into Stripes may be opened once to find the place.
A link you tap, to Flightradar24 or Google Maps, opens in that app. With cloud backup on, your logbook, photos and document scans also go to your own iCloud or Google Drive. Choosing Google Drive means signing in to Google, and on iPhone Google’s sign-in kit inside Stripes then sends Google details of the sign-in and of the phone.
Copy linkIs my roster uploaded to be read?
No. It is read on the phone.
On iPhone the reader is Apple’s and is part of iOS. On Android the reader is Google’s. It sends Google figures about how it runs, with details of the device and a number for the install, and never the image.
Copy linkDoes it track my location?
No. Stripes never asks for your location. It knows where you were from the flights you log.
Copy linkWhat does it ask permission for?
Camera, when you photograph a crew list or film your month’s roster reveal, and the microphone while that film records. The film is made on your phone and goes only where you share it. Notifications, for the reminders you set.
Photos: Stripes only gets the ones you pick. Saving a picture you share asks once to add it to your photos.
Face or fingerprint, only to open your documents.
Copy linkDay to day
Does it work offline?
Yes. Your logbook, the airport list and reading a roster all work with no connection. The weather and new currency rates need one.
Copy linkWill it wake me up?
No. Stripes can send a notification before a report at base, once you set a report time and a Report reminder in Settings, and before a pick-up you type in. A silenced phone stays silent, so keep your own alarm.
Copy linkCan it keep my passport and visas?
Yes. Documents keeps your passport, visas, recurrent training and staff ID with their expiry dates, and reminds you before one runs out.
On a phone with a screen lock, numbers and scans ask for your fingerprint, face or PIN.
Copy linkDoes it add up my flights and hours?
Yes. The Me page counts your flights, hours, places and countries from what you have logged. You can share it as a picture.
Copy linkDoes it show the weather and currency where I land?
Yes. Weather & currency in the menu gives a forecast and exchange rates. Both need a connection.
Copy linkNo answer for that yet.
